The theoretical affinity between Fisher and Gesell has been neglected by historians of economic thought. 2 Since the 1940s, the focus of research on Gesell has concentrated on the relationship with Keynes, in an attempt to stress theoretical affinities, particularly with the 'liquidity trap' ( Seccareccia 1987Seccareccia , 1988) and political philosophy ( Darity 1995).
