روششناسی یا متدولوژی (به انگلیسی: Methodology) وسیله شناخت هر علم است. روششناسی در مفهوم مطلق خود به روشهایی گفته میشود که برای رسیدن به شناخت علمی از آنها استفاده میشود و روششناسی هر علم نیز روشهای مناسب و پذیرفته آن علم برای شناخت هنجارها و قواعد آن است.روشهای شناخت را باید از روشها و فنون اجرای آنها متمایز دانست، چرا که اجرای هر قاعده پس از شناخت آن قاعده ممکن میگردد.واژه روششناسی گاه نیز به معنی «روشمَندی» یا مجموعهای از روشها بکار میرود.
