درباره نویسنده
اصطلاح تحقیق و توسعه یا تحتو یا پژوهش و گسترش (پژوگو) عبارت است از رشته فعالیتهای مشخصی در یک کسب و کار. بنا به تعریف سازمان همکاری اقتصادی و توسعه، پژوهش و گسترش به «کار خلاقانهای گفته میشود که بهطور سیستماتیک انجام میشود تا به دانش موجود بیفزاید و این دانش را برای ابداع کاربردهای تازه بهکارببرد.»
دستهبندی فعالیتهای پژوهش و گسترش از شرکتی به شرکت دیگر متفاوت است، اما در مجموع شامل دو مدل اصلی میشود. در یک مدل، وظیفه اصلی یک گروه پژوهش و توسعه، توسعه و دستیابی به محصول جدید است؛ در مدل دیگر، وظیفه اصلی گروه پژوهش و گسترش عبارت است از، ساخت و کشف دانش نوین پیرامون عناوین علمی و فناورانه به منظور توسعهٔ محصولات، پروسهها و خدمات ارزشمند و جدید. در اکثر فعالیتهای یک شرکت بازدهی سریع سود یا بهبود سریع در عملکردها، با هدف تسریع در بازگشت سرمایهگذاری معمولاً مورد انتظار است، اما این موارد دربارهٔ هیچکدام از مدلهای ذکر شده از پژوهش و توسعه، صدق نمیکنند. عموماً مهندسین، کادر پرسنلی در مدل اول پژوهش و توسعه را تشکیل میدهند، در حالی که در مدل دوم پژوهش و توسعه، غالباً دانشمندان صنعتی مشغول به فعالیت میشوند. فعالیتهای پژوهش و گسترش توسط شرکتهای خصوصی یا موسسات وشرکتهای دولتی انجام میپذیرند.
