The exhibition showcases thework being carried out by the ‘Publishing thePhilosophical Transactions: the social, culturaland economic history of a learned journal,1665 – 2015’ project. The project runs from2013 to 2017, and is led by Aileen Fyfe atthe University of St Andrews and funded bythe Arts and Humanities Research Council(Grant K001841/1). Researchers Noah Moxhamand Julie McDougall-Waters are working incollaboration with the royal society’s libraryand publishing divisions to investigate thechallenges and opportunities of scholarlypublishing over the past 350 years.As well as the exhibition, the project team isorganising a variety of other events in 2015,including a major academic conferencein March. by 2017, the team plans to havewritten the definitive history of the commercialand editorial practices of the PhilosophicalTransactions.
