Water pollution is one growing global problem. There are various methods for treatment and reduction of contaminants. However, conventional treatments are not effective for removal of metals and inorganic such as cyanides, particles present in the wastewater from electroplating, among others. This work investigated the electrocoagulation as an alternative to reduce the presence of zinc and cyanide in water from baths of cyanide alkaline zinc rinses. There are experiments with electrodes of graphite - aluminium and aluminium - iron, working as constant parameters experimental time and intensity of current. Both proposed models were effective in the reduction of parts per million of these pollutants and the remarkable decrease of other significant parameters in the analysis of wastewater. Both proposed models achieve the objective of reducing pollutants, however, on some parameters evaluated, the pair of electrodes aluminum - iron, it has greater efficiency on torque graphite - aluminium.
