That isn't what's been said elsewhere about apricot pits, a staple of the Hunzas per McCarrison, and claimed source of alleged 'anti-cancer' vitamin B17:
"From the viewpoint of our current interest it should be noted that cancer is unknown to the Hunzas. These people have been studied by doctors and scientists for over half a century. Sir Robert McCarrison found them to be largely vegetarians, long-lived, healthy and happy. He found no evidence of cancer. Their diet, he stated, was largely comprised of fresh and dried apricots, of which they also ate the pits. They also ate fresh vegetables, buckwheat, millet, alfalfa and various beans. These foods all contain nitrilosides (Vitamin B17) in large concentrations, the apricot pit being the main source."
