One of the major problems faced by students of Soviet and East European affairs, as well as most scholars in other areas of the social sciences, is the difficulty of keeping abreast of the materials published in that field. During the past two decades, publications on Soviet foreign policy and the foreign policies of other Eastern European countries have proliferated, and the bibliographical control over this growing collection of books and articles has not improved significantly. This volume is an attempt to remedy, at least partially, the problem noted above by making an indexed listing of books and articles published in English and Russian during the period 1967-1971 available to scholars in the field. The entries are not annotated, and no attempt has been made to note the relative significance of the items listed. In spite of these limitations, it will hopefully fill part of the almost total gap in bibliographical aids for the study of Soviet and East European foreign policy. The work lists all of the items published in English and Russian uncovered during the past several years. Unfortunately, time limitations and language difficulties have prevented the inclusion of East European publications.
