Technology: Obstacles and Opportunities' conducted in 1988
and 1989 jointly by the International Social Science Council, 1 the
European Co-ordination Center for Research and Documentation
in Social Sciences (Vienna Center)2 and UNESCO's Division
of Human Rights and Peace in co-operation with scholars,
research institutes, academies of sciences and UNESCO national
commissions from East and West European countries.
