Lo studio si propone di analizzarne tre, un “precursore” (John Chipman Gray) e due esponenti del “realismo maturo” (Felix S. Cohen e Karl N. Llewellyn), concentrandosi, in particolare, sugli aspetti della loro produzione che meno frequentemente (e, talvolta, meno attentamente) sono stati indagati degli studiosi.

A chapter in the history of legal thought constitutively impervious to all-absorbing synthesis, American legal realism is often associated with various authors, very different from one another from the theoretical angle. The aim of the study is to analyze three of these authors, a “forerunner” (John Chipman Gray) and two exponents of the “ripeness” of the movement (Felix S. Cohen and Karl N. Llewellyn), focusing especially on those elements of their work that less (and, sometimes, less carefully) have been investigated by scholars.
