The chapter contains a detailed overview of security provision issues in the field of element and component base (ECB), in particular with regards to microcircuits used in hardware parts of Automated Control Systems for Technological Processes (ACSTP) of fuel and energy complex (FEC) facilities.Introduction to the chapter demonstrates the causes of evolution of the classic security pyramid from the DuPont pyramid of events to the cybersecurity pyramid, which is based on ECB. The chapter also describes classification, activation mechanisms and methods for introduction of hardware Trojans into ICs. Main provisions of the modern technology used to provide safety of ECB supply channels for systems and objects of critical infrastructures are detailed in the text.
