This text looks at the provision of day services for adults. Written by academics and practitioners, it is designed as a guide for policy makers, service managers and care professionals in all sectors of adult health and social care. Drawing out the complementary role of day centres alongside field social work, health care, domiciliary services and supported accommodation, this book is divided into two parts. The first looks at how policy is designed, including users' own feedback, and the second explores how to apply theory and policy in practice, illustrated with case studies. A wide range of service-user groups is covered, including people with learning disabilities, mental-health problems or physical disability, and those socially excluded by unemployment, poverty, homelessness or crime.
