A relatively slim book, it is a refreshing change of pace from other not-so-slim software books. Before purchasing, be aware of the agenda of the book: the focus is on numerical solutions. The details of the background theory are given very light treatment and most of the numerical methods employed by the program are skipped over. In spite of this, the book together with its online supplementary material (freely available on the web) is an excellent way to teach yourself XPPAUT.
