Today, loss of joy is at epidemic levels across the globe. This creates huge negative economic and public health factors that reduce everyone's Happiness quotient. Individuals and cultures can grow happiness by cultivating healthy, creative and purposeful lives, but it requires commitment and focus. The Happiness Tree reveals a method for making happiness the norm, rather than the exception. LessMy inspiration for the "Happiness Tree" arose from my belief that Nature has provided us with all the tools we will need to create and sustain happiness. Those resources are waiting in our subconscious to be unpacked and put to use. But the “artificial” or small case “self” which is given top billing through our thoughts, only serves to drive a wedge between our outer lives and the hardwiring of our deep, primordial Self. The core of my vision revolves around stripping away that veneer to reveal the ancient, inner Self that exists before thought, before programming. The wild self, if you will that is available to support us with decisiveness, wisdom, confidence, self love, purpose, etc. And we do this through several means. Primarily "Creativity". By creating, we are emulating Nature, the ultimate creator. That creative process taps into the very engine of life itself that resides within us all. Many people however are afraid of creativity, because they perceive it as synonymous with “art”. And it is widely believed that the ability to make art is a talent which is only possessed by a lucky few: leaving the rest of us without an avenue for expression and self discovery. I reject that notion and believe that everyone can connect with a stream of creativity that is within and all around us. We just have to learn to open our eyes in a way, to see what is hiding in plain sight. This is done through Constructive Solitude, involving the hands in a creative activity. Walking or working in Nature, quiets the busy mind and seduces the inner Self out of hiding. Nature's inspiration can be found everywhere, from the most remote rainforests, to our backyards, even in the miracle of our own beating heart. Her wonder and wisdom is available to everyone, if they will just slow down and take the time to make the connection
