Oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida), also known as moss mites orbeetle mites, play important role in soil ecosystems increasingthe breakdown of organic material. They also have economic andmedical importance as hosts of various tapeworm species. Thisbook provides an overview of the taxonomic diversity, speciesdistribution, zoogeographical zonation, ecology, and the role oforibatid mites (Acari: Oribatida) in Vietnam. It is a synthesis ofstudies carried out by the author from 1980 to 2013, and is basedon his doctoral thesis defended at the Institute of Biodiversity andEcosystems Research (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences) in 2014. Thefauna of Vietnam is known to comprise 320 species, 163 genera, 64families, and 30 superfamilies; it is dominated by species of Orientalorigin representing 60.30% of all species hitherto known in Vietnam.
